I love it when I have earnt enough to buy more cakey stuff!!

Oooh, I'm so excited! I've just placed an order with one of the best on-line suppliers in the states who make copper cookie cutters. I recently did an iced biscuit course in London at The Cake Parlour with Zoe Clark. I had a great time and Zoe was really generous with her time and biscuits. There was only one other person there, who trumped my 400 mile round trip quite substantially when she said she had come from Brazil! I came home laden down with cookies and confirmation that I have the required skills to branch out into biscuit (cookies for the british!) world.

I will be offering iced biscuits as wedding favours, birthday party treats and messages through the post such as 'I Love You'. I don't know if anyone else suffers from the over-thinking problem as I do, but earlier this week I woke up about half an hour after I had gone to sleep, sitting bolt upright, dreaming that an iced biscuit was flying at me in a similar way to how the ghost of Jacob Marley appeared to Scrooge in the old version of A Christmas Carol!! so I decided that the time for thinking was over...hence the cookie cutter order. I have also ordered some american food colours, so can't wait to get them and have a play.

I would love to say that I shall make my fortune in the cake business, but honestly I get so much pleasure out of tracking down gorgeous cake equipment and going on courses to perfect my craft that I may as well class myself as a not-for-profit organisation!! One day I'll earn more than I spend, but not this week......but that's ok, because I have the one thing that is essential to all cake makers...a long suffering, but very understanding lovely husband

Thank you for reading. I shall post some pictures when I receive my parcel

x

.....I said that the East Riddlesden Hall Wedding Fair was the 6th of October, when in fact it is the 6th November. (Thanks to Jackie at Jamie at Home for pointing it out x)

Wedding Fair 6th October

Wedding Fair National Trust East Riddlesden Hall 6th October

After the success of my first wedding fair at East Riddlesden Hall earlier this year, I will once again be showing a small selection of wedding cake designs, cupcakes and will be introducing wedding favours. East Riddlesden Hall is a really beautiful venue and there will lots of other suppliers for you to meet and get inspiration from for your big day.

It would be lovely to meet you, so why not pop along? If you let me know in advance I will even make sure there is something for you to taste....how can you resist?!

All wedding cakes for East Riddlesden Hall come with free delivery and set up, as I live and work from home in East Morton, which is very close.

I've finally taken the plunge.....!

....and have started writing a blog. I don't Tweet and have been thinking about Facebook for a while, but thought this was the best place to start. I read other people's blogs which are always witty and fascinating, which makes me dumbfounded by self doubt about whether or not I can be either when just writing about cakes!

Anyway, something really exciting has happened this week - I got to see my new Sarah's Bakery video which shall be published very shortly. It was made by my very dear friend Russ Jeanes, www.artisanfilms.tv We filmed the video in my kitchen, which is where I work, and spent a day with my lovely ingredients making cakes while Russ interviewed and filmed me. He is a total genius, as the nearly finished product (almost as eagerly anticipated in our house as the new Harry Potter film) makes me seem more than a touch like a blond Nigella!! For any men reading this, I'm afraid I have no cleavage on display; do not get up at midnight in a silk dressing gown to stuff left over cake into a sandwich; nor do I shoe horn any innuendo in either!!! (Sorry to disappoint!)
